Excursion to the Colombo National Museum
with Rukshan Jayewardene
The event enabled a guided tour with an archaeologist to explore the Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kandy galleries. Participants saw the ingenious creations of our forefatherss such as the Biso Kotuwa and the Elephant Lamp.
Rukshan Jayewardene is an Archaeologist by training. He holds a B.A in Anthropology from the University of Maryland USA and an MPhil in South Asian Archaeology from the University of Cambridge UK. He spent 13 years in archaeological field work involving both excavation and exploration on land and underwater sites. His specialised areas of interest are the Sri Lankan early historic period as well as ancient irrigation and associated technology. He also has an abiding interest in paleontology especially in the Sri Lankan context.
