At the initial stage the teacher student ratio is 1:1 and as they progress the children are grouped and a maximum ratio of 1:4 is maintained. All the children at the Centre, including the ones with severe or profound hearing loss, acquire speech and language skills and they will learn to overcome the obstacles imposed by the hearing loss.

Our goal is to help the children make best use of their residual hearing through the constant use of suitable hearing aids or cochlear implants and develop age appropriate languages skills. The curriculum prepares each child to enroll in a regular school at the earliest possible age. They will do so as soon as they demonstrate the skills necessary for competing successfully in a regular school environment.

Currently the centre offers English and Sinhala mediums. The caregivers’ fluency in the language decides the medium of instruction. The parents are helped to teach the children in either of the languages.
